Cafe Bleu by The Style Council - on CD in the car! This LP followed the 1982 LP "The Gift" - by The Jam and its hard to imagine a bigger change in direction musically as "Cafe Blue" was a huge departure from Paul Wellers previous offering. It sounds superb on CD, its cheap.............but, - its now 25 years old!!! Not that I was old enough to buy it first time around

Actually, retrospectivly, if you listen to The Gift, it's fairly evident where Mr Weller was looking to go musically. Granted there different, but the more soulie/funky influence was evident. when you consider A Solid Bond was originally done by The Jam, it's not such a massive cross over. Like yourself, I recently bought The Gift and Setting Sons for all of £10. After so many years you tend to listen to them with a more critical ear, but to be honest they really have not dated, and in my book that makes them classic!

A new purchase "From The Vaults - Never Before Released Recordings By Motown Stars Of The 60's"
Wow - check out these tunes from Marvin Gaye, The Monitors, Mary Wells and The Spinners doing "What More Could A Boy Ask For" - simple awesome.
That these high quality tunes weren't released is simply amazing and testament to the volume of finished tracks that for one reason or another were consigned to the tape bin!

changing tack a little, watched the Italian job this week for the umpteenth time with the little documentary tacked on the end,,,, now that is a top film and I've never noticed just how many Fiats (500?)were involved or that they actually caused the traffic jams for real.

Mike, talk to Janie about it, she has all manner of weird conspiracy theories regarding Fiat and the film and why minis were used, and stuff and nuts and stuff
Listening to.......The Rifles-Great Escape JTQ-New World And the Andy Lewis track 'til I Lost You feat. Reg King seems to be getting a beating.
